Why ask us? We're just the electorate. We don't get to decide anything!Stercus accidit0 -
You're joking .. are you trying to tell me that people actually vote that bunch of clowns we have into office ... I thought they just passed out jobs to whoever shouted the loudestleftieM wrote:Why ask us? We're just the electorate. We don't get to decide anything!

Some of them can shout very loud!
I wish we'd voted for the more moderate clowns and at least we'd have some kind of accountable government without Mr (p)Hain getting his paws on the place. How many votes did the Labour Party get in NI? None. Yet they get to determine our fate. There have been wars started for less (oh, hang on, I think we've been there...)Stercus accidit0 -
Valid point G_N......didnt realise that............no guarantee being civilly dis-obedient will get us anything, but at least we can "bloody" a few political noses...that is those who still have any left cos they've all cut them off so frequently in the past!!!
Lunatics running the asylum and all that..........after all to quote some famous politician, if democracy changed anything, they'd ban it!!!!!!0 -
It was probably Churchill. He got all the good lines!Stercus accidit0

The We Won't Pay campaign was on the BBC 10 o'clock news last night (The local section). Apparently the Water Service will take a different approach to reclaiming unpaid charges depending on your credit history. My guess is that they'll chase the well off protesters first to scare the rest. I must buy a paper today to find out.
The interesting thing is that it made the news at all. This kind of issue rarely does.
So it must be a big movement. If the Beeb smells a story unfolding I reckon this has the potential to be big.Stercus accidit0 -
Let's face it, we have lost!! Unless the vast majority of the NI homes decide not to pay, there is no way we can win. We will pay, because if we don't they will send in the heavies and it will affect our credit history!!!
Without the assembly in place, nothing will change. We made the problem, we voted those clowns in and now we must pay. Simple!0 -
Im not paying. They can do as they please. I live alone and i will not be paying the same amount for water as someone with a family. They can take me to court if they please.
Unless they can send me an itemised bill showing exactly what i have used and am paying for then its a no from me! schools, etc.....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

When I lived in England you could have a meter installed but it cost about £150+.. I'd imagine they will have to offer the same ability to have your water metered here to.. and I don't think you can do a DIY job on it, it would have to be installed by the water service or authorised contractor. It's something that needs carefull consideration though depending on you family circumstances. A single person taking a shower once a day will probably be better of metered but a family with 2 or 3 kids having baths etc.. etc.. will probably be better of not metered.Live, Love & Laugh A Lot!0
