Automatic Credit Scoring by Insurance Companies.

I recently used Go Compare and Confused to search for insurance cover for a car that I am looking to purchase.

I have now received several credit alerts via Credit Expert stating that things have changed on my credit account.

Low and behold, I find that Churchill Insurance (RBS), AA Insurance and Royal Sun Alliance Insurance have all conducted unauthorised credit checks on me.

I have never even contacted these companies, I have only used comparison websites, how can they conduct a speculative search prior to me making a commitment to buy from them?

Who can I contact to get this process stopped and clear these searches from my record, Credit Expert (Experian) won't do it.

You could read the T&Cs of the comparison sites and not use them if you don't agree with them?

It's not a full credit search either
