Not including interest, if you had put the full ISA allowance into an account from when ISA's started, how much should you have?

Good question I dont know but can i add IN CASH AND SHARES AND THE OTHER OLD FORMS OF ISA IN THEIR OLD NAMES OF TAX FREE SAVINGS.THANKS
PEP & TESSA & ISA:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
For just cash ISAs, between 2001 and 2007 the max'm yearly limit was £3K so that's £21K. For 2008 to 2009 the limit was £3600, another £7200. For 2009 to 2010 the limit was £5100 making a total of £34800.
TESSA s had a limit of £9k which was spread over a few years, I can't remember exactly how many but 3 or 4 or was it 5 ?0 -
Thanks steadie eddie, but according to your figures shouldn't that be a total of £33,300............although maths was never one of my strong subjects!0

£21000 + £7200 + £10200 = £38400 I reckon but I also stand (just about), to be corrected.0

You appear to have double counted 2009.
And what about 1999/2000 and 2000/2001?0 -
I assume you are only counting the amount in cash ISAs. If you count share ISAs and also include PEPs then I believe the amount as quoted by HL is around £180,000 before any growth.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Go on then I'll risk it: It was £34800 in your other post...:)steady__eddie wrote: »£21000 + £7200 + £10200 = £38400 I reckon but I also stand (just about), to be corrected.0 -
Yes, the OP isn't very specific. Though he says 'Max ISA amount', I assume that means 'Maximum' not 'Maxi' ISA as opposed to 'Mini' ISA, so I assumed he was just talking Cash ISAs throughout. But who knows....I assume you are only counting the amount in cash ISAs. If you count share ISAs and also include PEPs then I believe the amount as quoted by HL is around £180,000 before any growth.0 -
There are no "mini" and "maxi" ISAs now. I think the £180,000 HL quote includes the additional £1500 that over 50s got two years ago, so I would say its £178,500.:rotfl:0

Yes, we know that, but I was querying what the OP meant by 'Max ISA' in the heading; however, I see he seemed to confirm in a later post that it was, indeed Cash ISAs, so it looks like £38,400 is the answer. There are no "mini" and "maxi" ISAs now. I think the £180,000 HL quote includes the additional £1500 that over 50s got two years ago, so I would say its £178,500.0
