Mine like going for walks and grubbing in the river. Not sure where you are, can you go and fly a kite at the beach?

  • Thank you L, we live about an hour away from the beach but although I'd use petrol we could take a picnic and make a real day of it, esp if we get some good weather at easter.
Also like the idea if making dens in the lounge- remember how I use to love that as a kid and am sure DS would love it too, thats a fab idea.
It only needs a little thought, rather than throwing cash away.I'm sure DS would love some different things to do, its my mission to try new free things with him over easter.

Felt quite down yest as I succumbed into going for a coffee with a work colleague, £2.10, just couldnt think of another excuse, have said I am on tight budget but she wonders why I wont spend £2 on a cuppa- unable to invite her to my house cause I work a little way from where I live and it would have cost more in petrol. Will not do it again for another few weeks- and hopefully wind it down slowly like that- in fairness to my friends I suppose it is a bit confusing for them since I cant face telling them the WHOLE story!

Anyway, hopefully a NSD today. Have done very well so far this month. Got £180 to last til 15th so should manage that- that means I got at least £500 more than I had last month, thats without what I put on cc's when I had them, so am really pleased, just goes to show it works!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't beat yourself up about it, enjoy it and move on. We do need to have little treats otherwise you could fall off the wagon big style. Can you factor in 'pocket money' and use that for treats, but when its gone that's it.

  • Another NSD today- am getting the hang of this. Am so pleased our menu planning and shopping to lists is working, have to pop to the local shop for bread and milk but thats about it- menu planning really does work. Used to go to supermarkets almost every day to buy 'bits' however havent had to do this.

The weather is so good here- everything thing feels better. Just fancy nice chilled glass of white wine but have used the bottle I allowed myseld and no more until shopping day tomorrow!!!!:(

Going to keep myself busy tonight planning meals for next week, hopehfully take my mind of the chilled glass of vino I fancy!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Hi all,
So far am having a busy weekend, made about £100 at car boot sale yesterday. We plan to live off this to allow extra money in bank account to pay off credit cards. Did loads of washing when I got home so todays tasks are to iron it all and have a really good clean, another NSD hopefully.
Got paid on Friday and managed the whole month without resorting to credit cards (cant cause theyre cut up) or the money for the bills- am so pleased.
Did the meal-planning and food shop Friday night, spent a bit more than I wanted to £9 more than my £50 budget because I'd planned some different meals that I'd needed to get some different ingrediants for- wont do that again for a while.
Still reading the old-style forums, they are a great help in ideas to save money.

I used to feel like you and still do sometimes about missing out on buyingthings, but i became an avid fan of this board and the inspirational sories on here but also of the minimalist sites - not the style of interior design but the anti-consumer / enjoy what you have already lifestyle. When you make it a conscious choice that you are not going to be suckered in, it does make it a bit easier. Love miss m!namilst's site and her wardrobe has to be seen to be believed - clue it's about 2% of mine:)

wow I googled this blog & love it! Thank you x

  • Still plodding on- managed to pay one catalogue off completely today- I have owed on this catalogue for years. The final £75 paid today- what a feeling- better than shopping!!
  • Hope everyone is well and enjoying this lovely weather. Had a bar-b-que this evening and invited my family over so spent bit more than planned, did buy value bangers and burgers etc so although with bread rolls, booze etc spent about £24- feel guilty but am trying to console myself in this 'one off'- a few months ago we were spending that a couple of times a week on takeaways, not to mention eating out.

Not spending really has become habit and at present I feel guilty spending anything. I had hoped last years summers clothes would sit fit DS but unfortunately they didnt go near him- so went to Asd*and spent £50 on six t-shirts and 4 pairs of shorts, plus sandals, usually but much more than this from Nex*, figure if I wash and iron regularly these should see DS though summer.

Have turned-down offers for lunch out for colleagues birthdays etc at work, am not finding this as hard as I used to and no longer feel pressured.

Got those too-small clothes of DS from last summer to e-bay over the weekend so that should keep me busy!!! They are all from nex* so hopefully will sell ok.

Am off work next week with DS and we have planned picnics and swimming (free for DS in hols)- plan to have a MS week.

Debt is still a great worry for me but I do now feel much more in control. Planning on a few NSDs next week, fingers crossed.

Would love to hear how everyone is doing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
