Hi All
I am a usual poster but have set up this name as friends know I use this forum.
Well here goes a friend of mine (lets call her f1) has told me today she has reported a friend (lets call he f2) of ours for benefit fraud. they are both single parents f1 says she is really annoyed she does everything correct and doesnt try anything on declare correts amounts etc and f2 has her bf of 5 months practically living there he has moves some of his stuff in f2s kids told f1s son he lives there does their tea when mum is working does the washing food shopping together etc.
I know it is wrong what f2 is doing but I cant help feeling sorry for her dds.
F1 said she reported her 6 weeks ago and nothing has happened I told my dh about it and he said they would probably be watching her and gathering evidence against her but warned me to stay out of it but I cant help wondering what will happen to f2 is anything
I really wish f1 hadnt told me

She should not have told you (what difference does it make?).
But good on her for shopping her in. She only needs a suspicion, its down the DWP to investigate.
I am glad there are people like your friend (who claims the same benefits) willing to shop in others.

So I'm assuming he has somewhere that he 'actually' lives? Is he just staying at f2's a bit? Helping her out while she's at work? Maybe that's all it is and it would be crap if she gets sent to prison for it.
Sounds like f1 is a bit jealous of f2.
She certainly shouldn't have told you as it's put you in a very awkward position. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
Firstly she won't get sent to prison. secondly lets just say she is taking £50 pw from the coffers and there is 1,000 people per week doing it also...........thats £50k per week! Now when you next visit a hospital and you hear that they do not have the budget to offer someone a life saving treatment. How would you feel then?
F1 did the right thing, the reasons do not matter. F2 should be teaching her kids morals, thats the biggest disappointment for me

But OP said he practically lives there, not he lives there, so maybe he is just staying over a bit, that's my point.
Of course is he's living there then she is getting money she shouldn't be getting but we don't know he definitely is.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
Just because f1 told you she did it, doesn't mean she did. Forget it, and if the topic comes up again - walk away......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0

zoe.....if he isnt living there then that is what any investegation will prove.
they wont throw the book at f2 just on f1's say so. they will investegate and come to their own conclusion!0 -

Yes of course, and if he has a permanent address he should have bills etc there to prove it.
Could still be a stressful time for f2 though if she's called in for questioning.
I am not condoning fraud at all, I'm just saying it's crap if all she's done is found someone and has him stay over and he's good with the kids etc, and someone's jumped straight on the phone.
Perhaps f1 could have spoken to f2 instead. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
assuming f2 has done nothing wrong......a bit of stress isn't going to kill her.
she is receiving tax payer money and shouldnt have a problem with justifying her claim either way.0 -

Thats the intervention you get when you rely on that intervention to pay for your roof, food etc.
If she has done nothing wrong and its all above board, nothing to worry about!
