Halifax email - take NO NOTICE!!

  • I've had these from: halifax, citibank, lloyds, ebay, paypal

The only ones relevant to me are ebay and paypal but I always go to the site on my own, not through a link. Is there anyway to stop them?
  • These emails don't seem very convincing to me.

The example that Fran posted quoted phrases such as 'we earnestly ask you' and 'is obligatory to follow'. This is not really normal use of English - it's not wrong, but suggests that English is not their first language.

Communication from a bank does tend to be well structured, and phrased in a way that would seem normal to people that do have English as a first language (OK excluding the jargon etc!).

Also it refers to 'Halifax bank', but Halifax refer to themselves as 'Halifax'. Suppose you'd have to be with Halifax to smell a rat with that.
