If they've got a 5 bedroom house, I expect they've paid more tax and NI than the SMI support will ever be.0 -
Fortunately the STR bears won't qualify for either on the basis they'll be sitting on a great big pile of cash if they lose their jobs, so thank heavens for prudence eh?
Thank heavens. I can't tell you how secure it makes me feel to know that I wouldn't be a burden on the state for a good few years if I were to lose my income. Furthermore I'm mobile, wouldn't take me long to find a job.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The stamp duty on it's own would be a fair chunk.
I think it's terrible that people are paying stamp duty to support enraged and sociopathic internauts who sold to rent. I think we should make them pay extra to use the NHS.0 -
You yourself provided evidence that 3.63% was the average, I will assume you know what average means.
Your point? You used the word many, without quantifying it.
This isn't the average mortgage rate of people claiming SMI. That figure we do not know.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I think the point was that on average capital isn't being repaid.0

AND another.
We can surmise that the average rate of someone receiving SMI is similar to the population average.
We can probably speculate that in fact the rate being paid by this group is higher on the basis that they will tend to be older, which group remortgages less for various reasons (disinclination to change and smaller mortgages so less of a priority). But this would be speculation.
It's unlikely to be less than the average anyway.0 -
Edited for clarity. What's your problem?
Actually, dont.
Because you changed what you said completely. You started with a dismissive "so what" reply, then realised you were wrong and changed it, then realised you were still wrong and qualified your change. And you're still wrong, which is quite an achievement after all that editing.
What do you think to the idea that people who pay NI should receive the benefits they've paid for by the way?
And how much tax do you pay? Because if it's less than me I want you to be surcharged for using the NHS.0
