I get Profender spot-on for my cats, it's maybe a bit pricier than some other wormers but gets rid of all worms including tape-worms which your cat will have if it hunts and not all other wormers will do. My vet doesn't recommend Drontal. The Profender goes on the back of their necks which is much easier than trying to hide it in their food.

The cynic in me says your vet doesn't recommend drontal because it's cheap and available online....My vet recommends milbamax (only available from vets) and Profender (ditto....) but I have found panacur to be very good esp with kittens and also use drontal. I alternal the wormers as they cover different things and if you can see the worms come out (yuk), you know what sort to treat for - so one time milbamax or drontal next time panacur/profender etc. :) One of my cats had a bad reaction to Milbamax (she's got a heart condition) so now has profender and is fine with that. Haven't tried panacur on her but it's supposed to be gentler, hence good for small kittens.

Oh and ditton ONANUPs comment about fleas - you need to treat both as it's a cycle from fleas (carriers) to worms apparently. Yuk. I also wash my cats bedding with a capful of flea shampoo!

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
