Credit card application... previous addresses

Hello, I recently applied for a credit card which was declined. Having performed my own credit check through Experian it's clear that my financial history is sound. Which leads me to wonder why exactly the application was declined.

On the application I put my two most recent family addresses, the only ones that I have been registered on the electoral register. However, on the credit report there are several addresses from university accommodation and rented properties I have lived in since then. These appear on the report because of my mobile phone bill. Do these need to be included in the application? The application asked for the current address and the previous address. Should I put the two most recent addresses that appear on my report and the corresponding dates?

And also, will it make any difference if other people have lived at those addresses who have poor credit. And do such applications for credit cards view suspiciously those people who have lived at several addresses because of university and work?

It's quite annoying because now I'll have to wait another 30 days before re-applying, and even then I don't know if it'll work! They do have decisions department so I could write to them as well.

Thanks!

I would imagine those linked addresses you would have to add to experian as you had some form of credit there to get the full extent of your credit history - it does not matter who stayed there before you and how bad there credit history was it won't effect you, it's probably a good idea to check the 3 CRA's as i have come across information held on one report and not on the others - the fact that you have moved around alot might effect you as lenders look for stability.

Usually you can make 3 applications within 6 months, thats viewed as ok as far as i have learned anymore they might think you are desperate, 1 per company every 6 to 9 months - it all depends on how long you have been on the ER, your income, how much debt you have, and how much credit you have available.

Have you had a credit card before ? if you haven't you would most likely be better starting off with a cap1 classic or aqua, vanquis as a last resort if the latter don't give you one to build a bit of history.

Never had a card before so may look at those. Would prefer the 0 per cent interest on purchases though.

Try with your own bank in the first instance - if not you need to build a bit of cc history and try and get one of the sub prime cards.
