HP wiped my hard drive

I'm sure I should write something about the pot and the kettle here.First up reported your rude abusive post
HP did not refer me to any Ts & Cs, nor did they infer that I had accepted any. They simply arranged a courier to collect after asking me which date suited. To me, that seemed a little odd (that I was not presented with a disclaimer). You were making a warranty claim, it was in warrranty the Ts & Cs in bold capital letters?
Don't say it if you don't mean it Jas.Sorry if I sound harsh
Jas, this isn't the Ryanair forum. I'm well versed with terms and conditions. I repeat, none were referred to by HP to me. No disclaimer was presented to me prior to arranging for a courier to collect my laptop.but the people who blindly stumble thru life insisting "I never read any terms conditions or other stuff people put in writing to me, surely most people don't? its therefore clearly someone else's fault X has happened because of my lazyness" often need a sharp wake up call that they are not actually in the majority and 'most' people aren't as sloppy as them with their affairs.
Jas, I thought you already apologised for being rude? That HP unreasonably presumed you could read?0 -
My automatic thought to sending it back, is that they would restore it to the factory default settting. (As supplied)
They probably use semi skilled labour, who will be 'module changers' only, and will not deal with anything other than that. No component diagnosis. (i.e. chips etc.) They won't deal with any personal requirements either.
Sorry sunshine, I think the 'restored to original' disc situation was a foregone conclusion.0 -
It's unprofessional, but happens all the time, golden rule before you let any techie/courier/company touch a pc is backup or take HD out before you let it out of your care. Unless there is an obvious physical problem, ruling out software by factory restore is No1 on the list of all warranty support. No2 is swapout.
If you have the same physical disk, a recuva deep scan might get some of your data back!!
