Moan to the managers they are the ones who keep the posties in til 8-8.30 with all their meetings! All post MUST be cleared that is in the office or the postman would be suspended for willful delay..The only post returned is mis-sorts or if the resident was not home and its too big for the letterbox in which case a card should be left there and then..They even give them training how to fill out the cards..to stop them getting out early of course:rolleyes:

This thread has opened up a can of worms. We all seem to have our own opinions about posties, some good some bad. IMO they are nowhere near as good as say 5-10 years ago.

RM keep Mailsort (eg junk mail, catalogues etc) to a minimum on Saturdays so their rounds are lighter. Postmen like to enjoy their weekends too.

If any posties on here want to chat about work www.postmanchat.com Hubby is a postie and he's addicted to that site!

My postie is the best in the world. He is efficient, friendly and knowledgable. What more could I ask for?

From the Posties reading this , is there anything else apart from money we can give at Xmas? I feel like I am putting a price on him , giving cash or is that more acceptable?

In the past, my hubby has had bottles of wine, cans of beer, festive cakes/biccys and choccys. All were very much appreciated.

    I love my postie :D

He always delivers between 8.30 and 9am monday-friday and about an hour earlier on saturdays. If I have to sign for something or it won't fit through the letter box, he finishes his round then comes back because "it's early and I don't like waking people up". If I'm not in (very unlikely that I'm out of the house at that time of the morning lol) he doesn't stick a card through the door - he brings it back the next day.

Lots of people were complaining last year - to each other, having a good moan - that he was off the week before Christmas so they couldn't give him a tip til after Christmas :D

Is it OK to give him a pressie? We always put a tenner in a card because I feel sorry for him having to carry his pressie all the way round his errrmmm.....round :D

  • I love my postie too :D

We're on chatty terms, are able to have a laugh and a joke as well which is nice, and he waves to me when I see him on his rounds.

He has also made the effort to come back to my house with a parcel later on in his round, as he knew I wasn't in. So I really appreciated that.

Of course , as with anything, there are good and bad!! I'm lucky to have a good postman!!
