Ok, done windirstat now. Very pretty, colourful and interesting, but Not sure if I can delete much, 98% of it I dont even understand.

Aplication extentions are the biggest (5.8GB)

File (3.1GB) my emails (can delete loads )

JPEG( 2.8GB) My photos, will move them to external hard drive

Video clips (2.4GB) can remove them to external hard drive as well

System file (2.6GB) No idea what this is

Got 1.7GB in Applications. Some of it I recognise and can delete

After that it's just a huge amount of MB and KB and smaller byte files
that I don't really know what it is at the mo.
  • move your photos and videos:j

    DONT touch the system files:eek:

You could of course move these to the D drive too.
Also as someone said earlier your C drive is too small so you could take some out of the D and add it to C . Which version have you got ? Xp (favourite guess) or Vista or Windows 7

  • There is a small free program called spacesniffer - its scans your drive and gives a graphical representation of what is taking up space on your drive. Really useful for this kind of thing.

OK that will task my memory a bit, but 1st things first did you remove some of the restore points using CCleaner ? and if so how much space have you recovered? Erstwhile I will refresh my memory on how to resize using XP :o

Many people move their only copy of photo's to their external hard drive, and then lose them.

there is nothing under system restore in ccleaner. Just says scheduled checkpoint and today's date and time when I used it. I deleted all the recomended ticks and it cleared 595MB

After moving photos and deleting a couple of things I got 8.39GB clear out of 31.5GB now
