ADT Alarm dialling out too many times on AOL Exchange

Anyone else have this problem? My phone line is with BT, but calls and broadband with AOL. Been a customer with them since 1999 and never bothered to move. Recently noticed my phone bill creeping up and thought I should investigate.
I checked the itemised bill online and found the alarm was dialling out about 8 times every night instead of once like we had been told. So I was getting charged 17p each time. last months bill showed the number being dialled 104 times.
Called ADT engineer who advised me that Sky and Talk Talk customers had a similar issue last year. The equipment at the exchange prevents the message from getting through first time and has to dial out several times to get the message across to ADT.
Today I spent all day at different times calling AOL and got nowhere. No one understood what I was talking about, got through to the call centre abroad and found they didnt have a clue what and who ADT is and what a home alarm was. Eventually got through to Ireland and after talking for 15 minutes, the guy hung up.
I've now been advised to write a letter to their customer relations department. A letter? I asked. No phone number, no email address.
Can someone please advise me if they experienced a similar issue and how they resolved it?

Even time will never heal these scars
