Car Insurance: Admiral

Hi all,
I was just wondering about my car insurance renewal.
I am with admiral and the policy ends at the start of May.
I am pretty certain from having a quick look around that Admiral will be the cheapest option once again.
I am doubting that I will get the best possible price through automatic renewal though.
Is there a way I can cancel the policy and set up a new one to overlap if so? Or do I need to speak with their renewal team? Or am I being foolish to think they won't renew me at their best price?
Kind regards,
David

Hi, I have found that after Admiral's 1st year introductory discount the renewal always comes in considerably higher so I have swopped between them and Churchill to get their best price. When my last Admiral policy was near to the end I found that I could not get an online quote to renew online as it seemed to link to the existing policy. I think your only hope would be to ring up and see what they are willing to give. When I rang they reduced but not enough so I changed to Churchill, after a year with Churchill I found Admiral to be cheapest again.0

Have you got an online quote from Admiral already? Does it say anything about being for new customers only?
If you have a quote from them for this year, I would wait for the renewal and ask them to honour the on-line price as the renewal will no doubt be higher.
If they won't do this and you have a few other quotes as well, you might be able to negotiate some extra discount for them to retain your business.0 -

Can't see that offer anywhere.
I have noticed, (the same as most others) they will vastly inflate the renewal premium though. Most of the time they will then reduce it if you notice, and ring them to cancel, or simply suggest a lower figure.0 -
You won't be able to get a quote from them like you are a new customer. Instead get quotes from Admiral's sister companies - Bell, Elephant and Diamond. They will price match quotes from there with no bother, even after they swear blind that the renewal quote they're offering is as low as they will go! I just reduced my insurance premium more than £300 by doing this.0

Hi, mikey72, we are basically talking abount the same thing , you say they vastly inflate the renewal price, however over many years I have found that you appear to get up to 30% knocked off for being a new customer with a lot of insurers and this discount disappears at the 1st renewal. Whatever way you look at it the insurance costs more after the 1st year ,maybe dacouch or dunstonh could clarify.0

You think it's dear in the second year?
If you stay, wait until you see the third year!
I'd accept the "discount", if you didn't get it again in the second year, just by pointing out how dear they are suddenly.
Think of it as a "loyalty penalty" that does increase year on year.0 -
Hi, I change every year and have never stayed with an insurer after the 12 months are up, I had multicar with Admiral , 2.2dci xtrail and 1.3 runaround for £360 for both, at renewal it went up £150 so I went to Churchill and Coop for £320 ( 2 seperate policies ) , these increased vastly at renewal ( total of £575 ), so went back to Admiral again for the next year and got for £360 and also £45 cashback from Quidco.0

I have insured my group 14 car with Admiral for a few years now. Last renewal in October, it was cheaper than previous year's premium and could not be beaten by any comparisons websites with exception of Elephant who were £5 cheaper. I would not insure with Elephant if they were £100 cheaper, although I heard they were part of the same group.Mortgage free

They are the same company - for future reference, use the quote reference from Elephant to get Admiral to match the quote. I know it was only a fiver last year but it could be much more this year0 -
We have a multicar policy with Admiral and at last years renewal I told them the best prices I could get elsewhere and they beat them. I admit we were quite surprised by the renewal they originally quoted because it wasn't too far off the prices they had to beat and we had just put a non fault claim in and fully expected the renewal to be sky high.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
