Has your mechanic been taking drama lessons? Couldn't sell any parts for spares . . so engine /gearbox/ headlights etc etc etc .. they're all in a dangerous condition?0

What confuses me is that (this is my other halfs car) the insurance company had no problem insuring it, would that indicate that (if it were as serious as the mechanic is making out (and there is no reason why he would lie)) it hadnt been reported through an insurance firm or just that something even more dodgy going on?0

Not to mention pieces of trim, seat belts, sun visors, speedo head, radio, aircon, wiper motor, electric window motors, seat runners, pedal boxes, steering wheel, head rests, all seats, complete carpet, spare wheel, tools, jack...0 -
Look I'm going by what the mechanic has said, he has no reason to lie.0

No one's getting at you, just the mechanic seems a little OTT.
To say you couldn't even sell spares from it is rediculous
So was this mechanic the tester? Where was it tested previously?0 -
He has the equipment in his garage.
The car was allegedly HPI tested before we bought it and there is nothing on the log book which says it was written off, just repaired.0 -

All that is recorded when an airbag is deployed is throttle position, road speed, engine speed, and whether the brakes were on or not.
That information is also encrypted, so unless he has the same equipment as a main dealer then he wouldn't be able to read it anyway.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
Well we know the airbag went off at some point because they never fixed the sensor0
