I think it's dependant on the store. When my dad went into town to ask about the promotion last week, he was told that it started monday and that he only had to buy a £1 gift card. Obviously we'll see if they're true to their word today.

A word of warning - I went into Clintons today and me and my sister bought 2 x £5 homebase gift cards - we wer going there anyway on our day off to buy plants so it seemed like a win win.

Got to the till at Homebase only to be told the gift cards were EMPTY!! How embarrasing. Trekked back to Clintons to be told there is nothing they can do about it. The girl went off and made a phone call and came back saying the money may take up to 3 days to show up on the gift card.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS - She wouldn't even give me a refund.

Wish I hadn't bothered with this one. It's been a massive headache. Now have to go back to HB at the weekend (it's miles away) then if card still doesn't work back to bl**dy Clintons - although heaven only knows what they will do - the staff really didn't have a clue about the gift cards - suppose I'll get fobbed off with some rubbish again.
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Sorry to say this is perfectly normal, its no fault of Clintons or the staff who probably like you had no reason to know about it, but is the case with all electronic gift cards. I have had it with itunes cards that didnt work, when I looked on the back it said in small print that it could take a couple of days, I have not had one that didnt work after the alloted time period though.

Thanks - this is re-assuring at least!! The girl in Clintons didn't have a clue about the gift cards at all really - it wasn't her fault - but i asked if she knew it could take a few days and she said she hadn't even been told that - I asked if she was going to warn future customers and she said she would.

  • Been lurking here for a while! I went into my Clintons today and got 2 x H&M £5 vouchers as am going there anyway. Staff did not know what to do and ended up getting 2 Body shop gift cards and topping them up to £5 each! I take it these are different to the Vouchers you are all talking about? And if they are gift cards do you think that means they have no expiry date? Will wait 3 days (after reading a post above about cards being zero for a while) then go and check.

Wow lucky you! Yep, this should mean that they're expiry-free :T Enjoy x

My local Clintons only got the vouchers in today, I basically trained them up on how to use them as they had no idea what they were for:D I got a £1 Bodyshop giftcard and the voucher, thanks OP!

I was told you only got the free coupon if you put 5 quid on a giftcard, so I left it because I didn't want to buy a 5 pound giftcard for body shop. After I left I realized I should've checked to see if they had a giftcard to somewhere else that I actually needed something, doh! At a glance I just saw Next (which I didn't want), I don't really shop much anywhere other than boots and grocery stores and amazon, lol. I'll have to check the other Clinton's at some point -- how long is this offer on?
