Chips stuck to baking tray

Hi everybody
Long time OS lurker 1st time poster, hope thats ok
Just looking for a bit of advice. I have managed to get a load of potato wedges (not very OS I know but living in student accom and very little in the way of food preparation facilities) stuck to a baking tray. What's the best way to get them off without blocking the sink etc? Have tried dry scraping but still left with huge chunks of wedges on the tray.
Thanks in advance
Rich

Try soaking the tray with very hot water and some fairy liquid. Leave for about 1/2 hour - it should come off easily! You can discard the residue in the bin...not the sink!
Good luck!0 -
And try to get hold of some baking parchment/baking paper (£1.50ish in our co-op) so next time you make these they won't stick!0

This always used to happen to me, too :rotfl: . Not any more since I discovered a roll of brilliant stuff from Lakeland - it's called Magic Carpet (or something like that). It lasts for ages - just needs washing. I use it for anything that may stick (perhaps it's just my cooking!)0

in future oil the tray before hand or put foil over....... with the wedges or chips on top......!smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

They have the parchment in poundland all the time. You might need 2 sheets to cover an average oven baking tray properly though.
If you dont want to leave the tray in the sink, soak some cloths or kitchen towel and cover the stuck on bits with them.0 -
I did oil it (well with the fat from the lamb I cooked on it anyway
). I'll out it in to soak but hope no one else wants to use the sink in the mean time or I'll be for it

Similar stuff (basically a Teflon baking sheet) in Superbuys for about £2.50 for a sheet, and sometimes available in pound shops too.0 -
make sure the tray is warmed first, chips will stick to a cold trayplaning for the future, living for today
