    Ok from the top.

    1. Is you wireless connectivity intermittent as you stated in the title of your post or non existent. Presumably you get internet if you connect a pc to the router via cable (RJ45).

    2. have you tried to ping the gateway ie the router from a wireless client. Your gateway's LAN IP addresses will likely be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.254.

So Start>Run type CMD and hit enter. A dos box will open.

Then type ping 192.168.0.1 (or what ever the gateway IP address is)

wait for results should take a few seconds (to exit box type exit and hit enter)

Lastly, I am guessing that AOHell have moved you onto their full LLU package ie you get phone and BB from them (and no longer pay BT).

I cannot see why you cannot just use your old router. Ask AOHell if they changed your username and password for the BB connection. If they have make a note and just amend these in your old router.

Not been with AOHell since dialup days but that is how it would work with any other isp.

    Good Luck

i think my ip thingy is
    http://192.168.1.1

and internet was intermittant, but ive fa&^ied on all afternoon, and it did work with the yellow wire in router and netbook. BUT .... i plugged me old router (that also didnt work yesterday) ang guess what,..... it works?????

ive been onto aohell :D and ripped into them big time, theyve extended my cooling off period and sending me a super duper modem. so we will see, but ill try that suggestion above thanks.

Well if the internet was intermittent (be it wired or wireless) then the issue will not likely be resolved by them sending you yet another router (if both your old and new router fail in the same way). Reason being that there may well be a problem at the exchange.

When either new or old router is connected into phone socket do you get a sync light on the router. By that I mean when you connect router it has to acquire BB and depending on the router you have a yellow/green light will blink initially and then turn solid green (usually).

Is your modem (either of them) doing this? When you loose internet connectivity, check the sync light to see if it is flashing (or preferrably log into the router via 192.168.1.1 and check the WAN uptime, this will tell you the last time the unit rebooted).

Good Luck with them and for future reference and as rough guide check the following sites for an idea of your chosen isp's rating.

    ispreview.co.uk

    dslzoneuk.net

PS. Next you speak to AOHell confirm that you are on Full LLU ie you get phone and BB with them (from what you said this will be the case). Last question, when the BB is playing up presumably the phone line works fine with no issues, correct?

    Good Luck

    hi, thanks for reply

yes the green lights are on then when internet goes, lights flash, but also internet sometimes not available when green light is stable.

phone works fine and yes full package with them.

now strangely enough ive plugged my old (12yrs) router in and bingo, no problem... how strange, now one thing is when i got this new router i got a cd with it, but havent installed it as the wireless was seeable without, is this a problem? should i install it?

could it be my comp thats not set up right? im running windows 7 starter.

    thanks loops

It may be worth setting up your new router to use wireless G only and see if that cures it , some of the chips out there (on pcs and or routers) aren't that great at mixed mode.

Note bhat I suggested that because the 12 year old router probably won't have G mode so it will be B only. (11Mbps vs 54Mbsp)

Log in to your new router and look for wireless settings set the wireless to 802.11g rather than mixed mode b/g or b/g/n or g/v . See how that goes.

We keep cross posting, but no, as long as you put in the correct password for which ever you are using.
