Should i stay or go???

Hi!

This is actually my first attempt to post anything so here goes....

I'd really appreciate some help!!

I'm with vodaphone at the moment but my contract has now ended - i've requested my pac number from them two days ago and when the guy asked me why i was leaving i told him..its actually cos i'm paying £30 for 200 mins any network(i was previously on a 400mins&150 texts for £25 1/2 for 6 months) i was given 150 free txts for 1 year because they messed me around last year but when it came to me dropping down to a lower tarif they said i couldnt have the free texts!! then they told me that they had been charging me £9 since last march anyway so i never had them to begin with - cheeky buggers. so anyway they sent me a text to say they'll sort it and i also wrote a letter but heard nothing. After hearing my long story the guy didnt even bother to offer me anything to keep me(a customer of 7yrs)so i left it.

Today, i spoke to a manager who apologised loads for all the **ck ups and preceded to offer me apackage to make me stay...so here i was thinking he'll give me anything..

he offered:
200 mins x network half price for 6months(£15)
100 free txts for the year
and a Sharp GX30i for £30

To be honest i dont think thats any incentive for me to stay especially with all these offers going around..

I've been reading up and asking around about 3 and havnt really got any positive responces only one person i know has no complaints except for the customer services being in india and unable to help!

Apparently, 3 arent actually a network as such and are under O2 (??) but all o2 customers get preference over 3 customers - dont know if anyone knows any more on this?? also, if there are alot of o2 people in you area making a call on 3 is terrible??

I'm still in two minds as to whether i should change to 3 and kiss goodbye to overpriced (but good reception) vodaphone..

I dont wanna commit to a contract that wont let me make any calls...cos coverage seems to be the most common problem with 3.

Does anyone have any ideas please????

thanks!

3 is actually a network, but it doesn't yet cover the whole country (60-70%). Where it has no 3g coverage (hence the name, as it's the first), then the phone roams on to O2.

    So there might be patchy coverage in areas where the phone hangs on to a weaker 3 signal, rather than switch to a stronger O2, but overall there should be coverage almost everywhere. Depends where you live or use it;

I've had a phone from them for only about 2 weeks, so it's a bit early to say. There's no 3g coverage at home, and I haven't yet tried any of the enhanced features elsewhere. But I'm happy enough, as it's on a low monthly rental after cashback, and I still have Orange.

You can read a lot about 3 on one of the sticky threads at the top, quite a bit fairly negative. There are also threads about the CPW offer of £2.99 a month rental (which I'm on), which still seems to be around.

Or you could look for other offers elsewhere; that offer you mention does look rather modest in comparison.
  • Thanks for getting back!!

Yeah, i've just been reading the other threads about 3 and too be honest its put me off a little! i live in london and as far as i know coverage is ok here...i just need a reliable phone and network for work and play!

In London I'd go for it
  • If you get your 7600 factory reset, then you can lock it to only use the o2 network.

Then the coverage and quality is as good as o2.

(Downside is that you can't use the 3g features, but if they are important you can switch back to using the 3 network when you want 3g features)
  • generally it is OK but is annoying when it drops calls or won't connect or the other person can't hear you. Voda aren't offering you a brilliant deal there you could get much better from some online shops but some of the discounts would be via cashback
2p off is still 2p off!
  • I would definately move from Vodafone, I had bad experiences with their customer services - I lost a phone and it took 5 calls to them before they would cancel it, with the response 'You can only cancel phones between 9 am and 5pm monday to Friday'. I eventually paid for 8 months line rental to the end of the contract (refused to use it on principle) and otelo completely agreed with vodafone, even though vodafone fabricated the evidence sent to otelo (data protection request to vodafone, they sent me different information), but otelo have 'made a note on the closed case'.

The deal is not that good at all, and is it a 12 or 18 month contract?

Based on price when I got mine, I would recommend three as long as you use the minutes each month. Three are also increasing the 3g coverage, I noticed when visting friends ina small town I can now get 3g coverage, when just a month ago, it had to fall back onto 2g. Otherwise, some 18 month contracts offer 12 months half price, for example dabs mobile, and you can get the Motorola razr v3.

I don't know whether it has been discussed, but do you get free 0800 numbers on orange pay as you go still?

If so, on my next phone, I'll be considering a £30 payg handset, and making calls through 1899?

    Hi andy88,

just been looking on "CPW" site the £2.99 offer has ended or I can't find it and was wondering if you might know whether this offer is likely to re-run, I really fancy all the free minutes 3 give to you and my singlepoint contract is up (600 off peakan 250 texts) and they're offering me nothing, or if anyone has seen a similar really good offer for 3 :)
a please & thank you is all it takes

The webpage is still there, but I have no idea if it's still in stock; I imagine it's a run-out offer at that price.

They have deals on others, as do other dealers, at around half price line rental on a few phones
  • just been back onto the "CPW" site and can't find any info on the Nokia 7600 even did a handset search for nokias and it wasn't anywhere to be seen, will have to wait for the next offer and even better not miss it !! thanks andy88 anyway :)
