For ADSL you can't avoid BT being in there somewhere even if you never pay them. The lines are BTOpenReach and non-LLU ADSL is BTWholesale. Whoever you get the service from is going to be re-selling those two products.
The BB options which don't need phone lines are..
Cable (limited availabilty)
3G (very location dependent and pricing forces fairly low usage)
Satellite (terrible latency and costs an arm and a leg. Plus some types need a phone line anyway for the upstream).
That said avoiding using BT as your ISP is a good move.0 -
You are on a Market 1 exchange, BT Wholesale is the sole provider of broadband services.
You can use any ISP you fancy, however the service will be delivered by BT over the BT network. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
As has been stated above, without any LLU operators on your exchange you're basically stuck.0

I'm no fan of BT but there is one thing that this thread highlights - if it wasn't for BT half the country would still be on dial up and even that would be over BT lines.0

Erm BT were enforced not voluntary to provide such, BT were quite happy to resell and make BT Openreach another BT profit making ventureSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

No they weren't and still aren't.
There is no universal provision requirement for internet only for phone lines.0 -
Demon - but not cheap0

BT were forced to open it up where they installed broadband, obviously BT choose the most profitable exchanges and were forced and still are where LLU does not exist - where BT make money on other resold BT broadband for a nother BT divisionkwikbreaks wrote: »No they weren't and still aren't.

Wholesale, Retail & Openreach divisions ALL make BT moneySO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Yes they were forced to offer the services wholesale but they were not forced to install them in the first place so my original comment is correct and you are just picking an argument for no apparent reason.0
