i feel so overwhelmed when read what other people are doing for their wedding (and paying) and all the things that need doing.
I think we need to have a sit down and plan how we want it.

As long as family and friends are with us on the day and we have a bit of a do at night, I'm not bothered about the little things.

Mind you, if I was rich, I'd get a wedding planner and write them a blank check and just turn up on the day

You do have wedding planners...all of us on the site are happy to help research and find cheaper the things you need...we're good for a shoulder to cry on or a moan at....the only thing we ask in return...is a look at the photos of your wonderful day!

Ignore what everyone else is doing (unless it gives you inspiration) - we're all doing things that are important to us, but they don't have to be important to you. If you're not bothered about the little things then you have already made your job a lot easier!

As long as you and your H2B have worked out what's important to you, eg a good party with the people you care about most, then you can just drop the things you don't care about, eg chair covers and strict colour schemes.

Sounds like you will have a lovely intimate wedding x

2004 i met my husband in the december, moved in together in the jan, got married on the 2nd may 05 so really 3 months everything was booked & paid for, during that 3 months i was ill for a few weeks & hubby ended up in hospital with suspected meningitis, so we had our ups & downs, but our day was wonderful.

Invites- Card Factory or the like
Flowers- ebay it was a bank holiday monday we married and no florist could guarantee the condition of the flowers

Cake, M&S plain icied fruit & sponge cakes sugar flowers added made by local lady

We paid corkage for the wine worked out cheaper that way

Shoes were bought in the sale in a small private shoe shop got 3 pairs mine & 2 bridesmaid dresses for under £60

Flowers for my mother & his mother (tesco)

The whole day was under £2000.

I just want to wear a pretty dress, have a meal with family (will be about 40 people) and a disco at night (the day guests and maybe 40 extra at night - max)

    :D so do it!

We decided very quickly that we didn't want any fuss or faff. So we're doing: ceremony at registry office on a Tuesday, big party at our house to celebrate on the Saturday. I am doing nearly everything myself - invites, flowers, even the buffet. I have budgeted £2500 for the lot, including our hen/stag dos.

It is your wedding, have the one the two of you want! :)

As LEJC says - you do have wedding planners... hundreds of them (well that might be a bit of an exaggeration) but there is definitely a lot of us :) You'll get advice from petticoats, to DIY decorations, venues to the legal side of things.

Look forward to hearing/sharing your planning adventure :)
  • And my weddingplanners (you mse'rs) found my venue!

We are worth an ask, even if you think it's stupid - we've probably already asked it!

    Hey,

    First congrats on ur wedding!

Here is some ideas to help wid budget wedding

    - Venue = Church halls are the cheapest in price and they can easily accoomade 100 people so look for those.
    - Invites = Get crafty, look online/youtube for cheap, easy diy invites ( art supplies = ebay)
If ur worried that diy invites will take long ask family n friends to help out, they will be more than happy, just arrange a card nite n have every1 come over n make a few sample cards before hand n give evry1 x number of cards to do. This way you can chill with them all, get ideas ect n hav ur invites done in 1nite
    - Centre pieces = look online for ideas, or do something easy and simple, having only 100 guest thats 10 people per table so only 10 centrepieces needed. Ideal shopping places Ikea, Charity shops, Car boots and even your family may have say a set of 10 centre peices ( think outside the box, wine glases, china, cups ect)
    - No need chair cover or statches a waste of money
    - Cake = do you have a friend that loves to bake? Ask them to help you out.
    - Favours = A slice of cake for all the guest :D
    - Clothes = The 1 place you can spurlge n get the best ;)

    Thats all i guess,

If you need any more help, ideas ect I wud love 2 help.

    Good luck x

I organised my wedding in 10 weeks and i have 2 small kids and work. I made quick decisons. My tips, get married out of season, get a dress made or buy a sample wedding dress, no favours, cake from M&S and small bridal party.Im only having 20 at my wedding and a party for another 50 at night. Its easy if you are paying for it and then you are in control gets messy when parents, family pay for some of and they all want to get involved. You can spend as little or as much set a budget and keep a track of it and keep to it. Good luck my big day is now on Friday...
