O2 Contract Help

Hey,
I have a 24 month (£25) contract with O2 for a Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro.
Only 5-6 months in the phone is falling apart. The camera fell off, touch screen does not work and it won't even turn on. They claim it's water damaged but I can assure you that it has NEVER been anywhere neer water. I don't even take it out in the rain!
So now with a year and a half left, I am paying for nothing. I don't have enough money for a new phone. £25 of the little money I have is being taken and O2 are not even trying to help or offer a solution. Sony Ericsson won't fix it either.
Does anyone have any advice about what I can do? I don't mind paying for a sim-only contract or something like that, but I'm still paying for a faulty phone...
Anyone else think this is wrong?
Thanks

The airtime agreement is separate to the phone, so you don't have any grounds to terminate it.
All you can do is kick up a fuss about the water damage and hope. Failing that, you can get a PAYG phone for very, very little now to see you through the contract.0 -
Many phones have a special water damage indicator inside.Hey,

You are paying for the airtime, not for the phone. Basic new phone is just a few pounds. So now with a year and a half left, I am paying for nothing. I don't have enough money for a new phone.
Difficult to say. It's under warranty, but any damage is not covered, including a water damage.£25 of the little money I have is being taken and O2 are not even trying to help or offer a solution. Sony Ericsson won't fix it either.

If you haven't already done so get Sony-Ericsson to check the phone, would be your final port of call as the manufacturer with their decision being final. Otherwise buy a cheap phone to use the airtime you're paying for.0

Hi - I've just been through the same thing - my 6 month old blackberry wouldn't charge - turns out charger port damaged.
Returned to O2, they sent it back saying damage/fault not covered in contract and £100 for repair. I researched internet to find its not an uncommon fault so I emailed their complaints review team on 7th March. Yesterday I had a call from very helpful Complaints Team saying under the circumstances they will replace my phone and today it has been despatched... really pleased with the outcome, I was an O2 PAYG customer for many years before entering this 24 month contract.
Good luck0
