cashback phones?

this is my first post. thank you for all the help this website provides. :T

i'm looking to purchase a mobile phone which has the capability to browse full internet style pages and pick up email.

i would also like to take advantage of a cashback offer as this might be a much cheaper option.

what concerns me as that i intend using the phone abroad when i travel. this would mean that i'd have to have the phone unlocked, in order to use a foreign sim card. would this then invalidate any cashback offer:question:

any advice would be much appreciated.

The cashback is an incentive to get you on a contract, it does not prevent you from using the phone any way that you want, indeed many people sel the phone on as soon as they receive it and just use the sim card in their old phone. You can certainly use it overseas and unlock it.
