go ahead hun, send the email to head office telling them what you told us. Its YOUR life they put at risk. but it would carry more wieght with head office if it wasnt just YOU. would any co-workers be willing for you to sign THEIR names to it? I would also stress the risk to customers - as management seems to believe customer safety is paramount?
doesnt opening the fire door sound an alarm? odd if it doesnt!
oh and if head office dont take any notice - then the 'health and safety excutive' will.
Hun - I would be looking for another job! its not worth your life if the present management allow these idiots to endanger you.
be warned - either head office will be grateful you pointed this out - or they may have the same attitude as the shop manager. in which case I wouldnt want to work with these twits and would be actively searching for a new job. best case scenario is that head office will be horrified and you will have a new manager - or worst case they will do nothing.

Sounds like some of the people I work with, treat it likes its a social club rather than a place to work! (not all young 20-somethings behave stupidly at work !).
Out of interest, how long do they get for breaks, if they have time to go get a bbq, food, can wait for it to heat up then have time to cook??
