Would like to know experiences abroad which is why I need the card.
I have a clarity at 17.9%, withdrew 70 EUR, repaid it in 2 days and was charged 0.06p interest. No withdrawal charge just a cash advance fee, and with wholesale exchange rates it seems a better option to changing travel money.

I applied for the Clarity Card based on the varied reviews. Firstly it really isn't clear as to when interest is applied. Turns out that purchases don't incur interest as long as you pay off in full each month. Cash withdrawals do incur interest even if you paid the amount back 5 minutes later. But the real 'kicker' comes when they tell you what interest rate you will be eligible for. This ranges from the much advertised rate of 12.9% to 17.9% or 21.9%. I have a crystal clear credit rating. Never been overdrawn or late paying my mortgage in over 30 years. I have other cards but there is nothing much on them. Surprise surprise they saw fit to give me a rate of 17.9% !! When I queried it they couldn't tell me how they had arrived at that rate even though they claim that 51% of people actually get the lower advertised one. That 51% rate must be based on 2 people !! Halifax need to stop using the headline rate in their ads and put the other rates as clearly as they do the 12.9% one. At 17.9% you pay £1.47 for every £100 that you withdraw. If you intend withdrawing a lot of cash abroad it might be cheaper to change your money up here or it could cost you dear.

i must be one of the 2,applied last week got agreement back today stating card approved 12.9%
  • I applied for the Halifax clarity credit card last week and have been accepted for it. I was given the lower rate APR. I have to go into my local branch to sign a form and then I believe the account will be fully set up afterwards.

I never asked on application , but does anyone know if there is a dormancy charge on the clarity credit card?

No it's a real shame about that. It was good while it lasted though. Thanks everybody for your input. You've all been more help than Halifax themselves.
  • After logging into my Hx online account today, I noticed that in the accounts section it is saying I have a clarity card.
I have not been told that my card is a clarity card
