I have had numerous letters from these people and I am not particularly worried but one thing has annoyed me. I subscribed to Equifax recently for a trial to check my credit file. Lo and behold there was an entry from a company called Datatrace with the wording 'Outstanding Debt'. I e-mailed them to find out what this entry was on my file and it turns out it was from Newlyn "to check my continued residence at the given address". Not sure if this will affect me in any way if I need credit. Anyone know?

Dunno...but you can insist that your record is corrected [since you obviously have no o/s debt with newlyn or their clients].Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0

Don't think it will have any relevance to be honest when getting credit, you could ask in here to see if it will, I am sure they will have more knowledge in this than us
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Hmmmm...not sure they can do that for an alleged breach of contract, it's not a debt.
You could ask tomtubby on CAG who I think is the Bailiff expert on there. I believe she has reported other Newlyn breaches such as acting as bailiffs in civil cases where they could legally only act as debt collectors:

In fact a Newlyn bailiff was struck off recently, this info from pepipoo forums:

Maybe start a new thread on CAG and see what they say?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Looks like there is plenty for me to read on CAG. Equifax shouldn't put these searches in Table 1 where it can be seen by anyone doing a proper credit search. I'll think about my next move and get back to you all. Thanks0

just to let you know the outcome. Datatrace told me to go to Newlyn which I wasn't about to do. I then went to Equifax and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing they put a correction on my file and contacted the company giving them 21 days to respond to them. They didn't so the entry was deleted. Result.
Also I haven't had any more letters from Newlyn since the end of March (saying that, I've probably spoken too soon and there'll be one in the post tomorrow)!
Thanks to you all for your advice.0
