I must have received it thirty times over the past week...all from different "senders" with different email addresses. It's really riling me as there is NO unsubscribe link and I don't want any viagara or whatever the hell it's trying to flog me!

Sorry, just had to vent. Not being caught by spam filter

My advice would be NEVER click on an unsubscribe link in spam e-mail - it only serves to confirm that your's is a valid address and will almost certainly lead to an increase in spam levels.

It doesn't matter, because there isn't one anyway! But thanks for the advice, will bear it in mind for future :)

I never open email which I don't recognise, just delete it straight away (or report it as spam).

I use Spam Blocker which puts all emails into a fast loading bin. If its a good email I can click it and put it into my inbox and make sure all firther emails from that address are recieved okay. Other emails gets this response automatically.

    Dear Sir,
To verify your email is a genuine customer query and not a Spam source. Please reply to this email leaving to subject line intact.

This stops spam completely as they know that although my email is being used they will never get anyone other than a machine to read it. Even so I get 10 emails per day but they get dealt with automatically, never filling my inbox.

If I dont like your email you get this reply.

You are the weakest Spam Source....... GOODBYE!!!

    lol !!!

The thing is it comes from a "sender" that looks like a person, i.e. a real name. Because I'm at uni I get emails from people whose names I don't recognise all the time and can't just ignore them in case it's work, etc.

Yah, I must have received this E-mail once everyday for the last week and the one I received today had the subject "Your health support" without the quotes.

I use to have a free Yahoo E-mail address up until a few months ago when I got an E-mail address at my domain through my paid webhost. Whenever I got an E-mail in the inbox of my Yahoo address that I didn't recognise and was obvious to me that it was spam, I didn't open it and could instead just select the E-mail and then click the "Spam" button. I use "Microsoft Outlook" to access the E-mail address I set up with my paid host and all I can do is delete any spam E-mails that come to this address because there is no "Spam" button in "Microsoft Outlook" like the one in "Yahoo Mail." So do you know of any way I can report these E-mails as spam or mark them as spam in "Microsoft Outlook?" Or is there anything else you'd recommend that I could try doing if I want to stop receiving these E-mails?

  • In Outlook from your inbox, highlight the offending mail and click Actions>Junk email>Add to blocked senders list.

Also in the actions menu in Outlook, you can alter the level of filtering applied to email which should put more of the rubbish straight into your junk folder.

think I've been getting these too ... not sure as i dont open them but I have been getting them everyday from "sue" and "paul" and random other names! Because each one comes from different name even though i add them to blocked senders list they still get through cos each one is from a different name.

Because this E-mail comes from a different name each day, I believe that adding to the "junk senders list" while having one of these E-mails highlighted would just block any E-mail coming from that one name and I would still continue to get that same E-mail everyday from a different name each day. So I don't see any point in turning on the "junk senders list" and I don't see it being very effective.

I don't see an option under the "Actions" menu that allows you to alter the level of filtering applied to E-mail. The only options I see under that menu are "Add to Junk Senders list" and "Add to Adult Content Senders list." Do you use "Microsoft Outlook" to access your E-mail? If yes, could you please tell me what level you have your "filtering applied to E-mail" set at because I would like to be sure that no E-mail from contacts I want to receive from will be filtered out if I turn on this option?

Thank you for any info regarding this.

  • I'll screenshot it tomorrow for you, I don't use Outlook at home, only at work.

I get all the mail to our domain that is to a non-existent or misspelled name, (including anyone who has left the company) so I get masses of junk every day, I am cutting it down slowly!
