Do not have a spare windows facility?
VMware runs windows or other operating systems inside another operating system.
You maybe on Windows 8 and run Windows XP on the same computer at the same time.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I do IT for a living and understand virtualisation and VMware etc., however I find it strange that they provide a full blown Virtual Machine just for a manual. Also you need to bear in mind the host computer needs to be fairly pokey as the VM needs extra resources.
I would have tried to provide it to customers maybe as an ISO file so it can then be easily burned to a disc?
The Focus manual is 6GB. Madness.0 -
haynes mnaul just touches on the most vaugest and simplest repairs and the illustrations skip so many steps and zoom in so much into the area that you have a hard time figureing out what the book is trying to show you.
Service shop manual cds can be found online and they're extremely handy. The detail everything from how to route washer fluid line through the car to valve timing, in great detail.
Though the CDS you find on ebay are super cheap and are not legit.0 -

many of them need the OS pathes, hosts files modified etc to bypass activation. Also many of them just wont work with modern operting systems and were designed for windows xp for instance.0 -

This would probably create a virtual partition of about 20 GB.
The reason it is so big is that it runs an install of XP and runs its own data server. However it maintains a link to the Internet. It cannot be a licenced version of XP, MS would never allow it. It could be installing anything connecting to your other local machines etc. I've advised a friend to install it on a seperate disposable PC. And disconnect it from the network. Fomat the drives after use!
Most of the manuals supplied are manufacturers maintenance manuals with very comprehensive searchable parts lists.0
