Haynes or emanual online?
I'm looking for any MSE who could recommend which one to go for.
I was about to buy a Haynes manual for my DW Astra when a came across emanualonline. This allows you to download a a workshop program onto your PC/Laptop and it's about half the price of the Haynes.
Downside that i can see is that you cant drag your laptop under a car with you as easy as a book, however, the software version does look easy to use and clear.
Has anyone used this software before and is it any good?
Thanks in advance.

I'd be tempted to get a Haynes second hand off e-fence. Not sure about the website you have found i'm afraid and don't want to cast aspertions!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Have you considered a second hand Haynes manual from ebay or the like?0

emanualonline seems to be american spec cars only0

The factory service manual for many vehicles is often available on a CD from eBay vendors. Typically than £10. On-line owners forums often have the same in their archives for free. You don't have to take the laptop under the car, just print the pages you need.
If I'm doing my own servicing, I like to have the factory manual and the Haynes manual. If it saves me from a bit of confusion or a mistake, it is worth it.0 -
I get a Haynes manual, second hand if possible for any car I have.
Great value as one job done and it's paid for itself. They come in handy and used my current one loads from servicing, repairs and replacing dashboard bulbs.
Even at £20 full price they are still great value.0 -
Emmanuelle on line may be more fun but Haynes will definitely be better for fixing your car.0

Do you need the manual?
I've got half a dozen knocking about because I always bought a Haynes just in case, and they've hardly been looked at.
It's easier now, with on-line forums, you can just look any fault up.0 -
Haynes manuals can be had on Amazon for less than they are in Halfords if that helps0

It's worth checking if there's an owner's club website for your car, as sometimes they have service manuals available for free download.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -

:rotfl: I like your thinking.
Thanks everyone for your input. I think the Haynes manual is the way forward as you know where you stand with that.
I'll use Emmanuelle as a treat after servicing the car0
