If they paid via Paypal how would you know?[/QUOTE]

Answer I wouldn't, I was just saying if they can't pay for it, in my opinion they shouldn't have it, it's a bike not a heating or food bill!!!!

My one word of warning is that no one is a nice or as believable as a con man, I nearly lost a bank a great deal of money about 20 years ago due to the most charming and well mannered con man you could ever hope to meet.
Was he from another bank trying to sell bad loans and junk mortgages?

It is a long story, but no, it was a straight forward con. There were two men and they were the nicest people you could ever meet, it was only that another cashier thought it was a scam and went behind my back to the fraud department (she didn't want to alert me as she thought I would give the game away) and they were delayed for ages, I even got their passports and all ID from them and then the police arrived.

Some people pay for everything by credit card, not because they can't afford it but because they have a cashback card.
  • also if buyers are funding it on a credit card they shouldn't buy it! I am a great believer in if you cant afford it dont have it!

As hermum has said. I can afford to pay cash for things, but prefer to use my Tesco Credit Card because I then get a nice load of points which I can convert into rewards.

Also, whilst the money is in my bank account, it's benefitting my offset mortgage arrangement.

It's called making the most of your money. :money:

fair enough if you clear your balance each month, but i know too many who live off the plastic, I even know of a person who bought a chain of houses using credit cards (pre credit crunch) I guess it is folk like this we need to thank for the current mess!

anyway that aside, sold the bike off of ebay for much more than it was on for, no fees as well, plus it was to someone who I knew who did an immediate bank transfer at my house. It was a relief not to get conned and have some money in my pocket.

Funny though I am still getting cheeky messages from ebayers thinking the auction ended with no bids trying to knock me down on price. Even had the old, I don't live in the UK but my brother does can I come and look messages. If they wanted it they should have bid whilst the auction was running - damn vulchers!
