Hi,. Does anyone know of any insurance company that deal with insuring the above job? I am currently with Churchill and have been for last two years, but premium has doubled (see below) and due for renewal on Fri 25th. I have called so many different companies and none will insure for that kind of job! Please HELP!
Also, I have 15 years NCD/Protected, and before xmas a lady skidded on ice and crashed into the back of my car when it was parked outside my house, there wasnt that much damage, but i called my insurance company to report it and after a month of waiting for the other party to accept liability, i took car to garage as they told me they would have to replace whole back bumper (Fiat Stilo), so had a hire car for a week and got car back all shiney and new!
Then my renewals came in the post and the premium had gone from £45 per month to £88!!! I nearly fell off my chair! I called my insurance company (Churchill) and they told me it was because there was a 'claim' still open. I told them that it was a non fault claim and after two days they came back to me and told me that they could confirm that it was indeed a 'non fault' claim, but that the premium was correct! I was flabbergasted! By the way, i am 38 this year and as i put earlier, got 15 years NCD.......
Car Insurance due for renewal on 25th (THIS FRIDAY) and really dont know what to do....... HELP!
Thanks

okay, i will hunt for their number later and try them, i have been on so many sites and called so many places that now, instead of going thru the whole quote, i imeediately say on the phone on answer 'do you cover for fast food delivery driving'......
im really up against it now, certainly dont wana be paying £88 a month, not at my age! thanks!0 -
It is an expensive trade to insure due to the late working hours, delivery deadlines and history of employing younger persons to do the driving.
Some of the national chains (pizza delivery) will insure this aspect separately on behalf of the driver. The driver insurers their vehicle as normal but excludes business use for the vehicle. The employer then insures the business use and third party liabilities. Again, it is not the type of business insurers want so it would only be offered to a client who insures the business with that insurer. It is unlikely to be offered to independant operators though.0 -
i just called Portwood, and they quoted 2 1/2 k!!!
she told me to try commercial insurance teams - so i will have to have a hunt around today.
Im just wundering if that claim is going against me, even tho i was not to blame and third party accepted liability - so my insurance are not out of pocket as they going to claim back every penny?
thanks!0 -
have you tried getting another Churchill quote online to see the price difference is.0

Sounds like your renewal price with Churchill will come down significantly once the claim has been settled - they can't do that untill they have got their outlay back. When this happens, if you renew with them, you should get a partial premium refund.0

The one that used to make me laugh was the premiums for Flower Shop delivery vans. They are heavily loaded due to the claim frequency, an underwriter was telling me that they also used to have a habit of leaving the keys in them while deliverying to houses so used to be stolen a lot as well as the extra claims due to the pressure of multi drop driving.
We used to have a flower shop next to our office and they used to get broken into frequently and had a period of three years where they got broken into during the night (After business) on the 14th of Feb0 -

Hmm, that's odd. I've seen schemes for florists and most of them performed very favourably. In my experience the florists appeared to drive carefully despite the delivery aspect - presumably because they are carrying quite delicate stuff.0 -

That's what I would have thought but the few I had all had bad claims records. Our neighboor was literally having two claims a year, it was not helped by the constant changing of staff and during busy periods eg 14th Feb, Mothers Day, Xmas etc etc they bring in friends of friends to drive0 -
Thanks all, ive gone on line and done two quotes for me (one with claim and one without) - same price.
And i even did the exact details but just changed the name to my partners - and quote was give or take £20.....
When i spoke to churchill, they said that the premium quoted didnt change when they amended the records to show that claim 'closed'.... i am totally gob smacked, and after reading other threads and posts on here, am wishing that i went direct to this other ladies insurance company my self, rather than getting my insurance company involved, but then hey ho, thats what i pay them for right?

i found another company who quoted me for said job, the premium was £300 cheaper than churchill (but i did not tell them about the non fault claim
)
so i rang churchill back and told them i wasnt goin to go ahead with the renewal and explained my reasons why, i was put thru to the 'loyalty team' and after chatting with the guy and telling him how dissapointed i was, he had another look at quote,.
he asked if i had a partner who i could put onto policy, but i told him that he was 9 years younger than me and hadnt been long driving (5 years),. but, sure enuff it brought down the premium......
so its gone from £88 per month to £67 - which is what i will have to take, as cannot get insurance for this job anywhere else...
i only have a fiat stilo - which beggars belief as 4 years ago i had an imported subaru wrx a group 21 car.... and was only paying £550!!!
unless anyone else can advise of any other insurance company, then i am stumped with paying the £67 per month!! grrrr.0
