For all you know, the OP could have been driving at 3am on a empty road, possibly much safer than 29mph on a crowded commuter road at 8.45am

At ninety miles per hour, what chances of survival do you think there are, if he had a blow out, hit a pot hole or had to avoid a wild animal?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Percentage wise I wouldn't know but lets say a little bit worse than if he had been driving 10mph slower, but legal :)

What about other people's children, in other cars?

What is the fixation with children anyway?

and the difference driving at the legal 80mph or even 70 like in uk would be???????

like i say not after moral judgement so if that is all you have to say can i suggest you dont bother posting again.
also there is no way i would ever try and avoid a wild animal, no way i am going to swerve and crash for an animal unless of course it is an elephant that will total a car.

just to clarify it was very early in morning on quiet roads in dry clear conditions.

i have been flashed on a few occasions by a fixed camera and never had any redress but did notice the last time on the way home a man in camouflage gear hiding in the long grass on the A 16 police were a couple of kilometres down the road so beware out there!

I'd be worried about the prospect of being flashed by a man hiding in the long grass ;)

Thank f*ck flyboy mentioned the children, I was beginning to worry with all this talk of speeding.

I got flashed a couple of times on hol, heard nothing from it, just as a precaution I took a side road/next exit in case mr John De Arm was waiting ahead. There were quite a few coppers waiting on side of the road on the autoroutes approaching calais.

Wouldn't recommend doing it if you're intending to go back in the same car, and I wouldn't do it in a french hire car.

My Dad reckons on the toll A roads, they use your start time and end time as an average, and can bust you on average speed. I think he was talking balls so I didn't go warp 9 everywhere, if anyone knows if theres any truth in this, please do tell.

I think cars are well-equipped to handle a pothole or two. As for the rest of it, you don't want to get into an accident at 70mph either - it's a lethal speed, that's why you can only do it on certain roads, and not on narrow lanes for example.

he must drink in the same [STRIKE]rumour mill[/STRIKE] pub as my old dad as he says the same. It's a small sample but I've often sat at 100+ on the toll between Calais & Paris and never had a problem
