    Are you in Scotland?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Speak to your bank and check your old statements. If that debt is over 6 years old without payment within 6 years either then it's "statute barred", which in laymans means something very similar to "they can whistle for it". Someone posted a couple of days ago with a very similar issue, theirs was turning SB in May (2 months time) and HFO were being total b'stards. By exchanging a couple of choice letters which query the debt it can be possible to cause it to time out.

What sort of money are we talking about anyway?

Very interesting. Thank you so much. The one HFO are hitting me for is £3115.00.

Right well you need to do something because a number that big does carry a risk of court. But what you don't want to do is turn a debt that may be reaching SB age into a fresh live one, so do not pay anything or even accept in writing that you owe it. Send them the prove-it letter by signed for post on Monday.

Have temporarily lost the prove it letter. Anyone else got it to hand?

OK, cool. Is the 'prove it' letter like a a request for a copy of the CA?
  • thats exactly what it is :)
6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....

Staying happy and positive through 2011 (hopefully!) :j
