After using an online internet speed tester
here:-
http://www.speedtest.net/
it gave me my results. I'm just wondering if there is anyway that I can tweak my internet settings to make my speed faster. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

HI there, have a look at
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
Why are your results that bad? what speed pakage are you on0 -
My results were as follows:
Ping = 62 ms
Download = 2063 kbps
Upload = 240 kbps
Is this good or bad?0 -
Hi comeonthetic
Is this good or bad?
I don't know, it depends what internet package you're paying for.
The Download = 2063 kbps means approximately 2Mbps.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Pings are a bit poor if they are to a uk site - try https://www.bbc.co.uk and you should should get about 16-20ms

bat - 2Mbps is what I am paying for. I assume it is a uk site.
stebiz - I selected Derby when I did the speedtest.
I did the report thing Murk11 detailed earlier and it suggested tweaks. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea of what any of it meant though!!
Is the ping that important?0 -

It looks like you're ok then, 2Mbps download with 256Kbps upload.
When you do these speed tests they just give you a snapshot showing your speeds at that time. If you try again 5 minutes later you will probably get different results.
Ping times are important if you are playing online games (I think
)

Yes you are right. It is extremely important in online gaming but also browsing too. If it is taking a while to get packets back from a uk site such as bbc.co.uk your browsing will be poor.
Go to Run, Type CMD - this will bring up DOS. Now type in ping https://www.bbc.co.uk - anything below 20-30ms is great - higher or with packet loss contact ISP.

Cheers again folks.
Did that stebiz and the average was 24ms. No Packet loss either.
All would appear to be ok.0 -
I have just tried the speed test
ping=157
upload=215
download=1931
does not seem right0 -
Probably need to detail what download speed you are paying for, like I had to earlier.
Ping is way higher than mine though but the others are not that much different, relatively speaking.0
