Brighthouse help

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any cooling off period with Brighthouse, if indeed I have already entered into an agreement? I went into their store last Saturday as I desperately need a bed and cannot afford to buy one outright. Although I hadn't got the necessary documentation on me as proof of income etc, I signed documents for this bed, but wasn't given any copies so not sure exactly what I signed for. I believed it was so that they could put me on their computer system to see what amount I would be able to borrow from them based on my income details. They said the goods wouldn't be delivered until I showed them proof of my income etc. Does anyone know if they have a right to charge me weekly instalments for something I haven't yet received and won't likely be receiving as I have not given them proof of income yet. The thing is once I told my mother about my visit to Brighthouse, she agreed to buy a bed for me rather than me buying it off Brighthouse. Don't know what I signed, but I also had to initial some boxes on one of their forms, but the shop was too busy and I was in a hurry as my car parking ticket was about to run out. If anyone could help, it would be really appreciated. Thanks.

The first thing to do is to go back and get copies of what you have signed.
Then maybe someone can help you.0 -

if u have initialled boxes ..u have indeed signed a hire purchase agreement.....they should have sat with u after and gone through an "agreement guide" explaining everything....however u have a 14 day cooling off period...did u make a payment or sign a receipt? if u contact store say u dont want to continue..they should advise you from there..however the staff didnt sound too helpful there....i do work within this company and hate hearing stories about products been miss sold. hope this helps.x0

If youre within the 14 day cooling off period, canceil it all, do it in writing for pete's sake, dont rely on a phone call to them.
Phone them by all means but follow it up in writing.
Brighthouse are the biggest most immoral company I have ever come across.
Next time you are desperate OP, tell your mother first or go onto freecycle.
And to the other poster, some people cant afford £50 for an Ikea bed, especially if it comes without a mattress and you have this to buy too.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Many thanks for all your comments. Unfortunately I never have much spare cash left on my payday to even afford a bed at £50. Fortunately for me I was able to cancel as I had not shown them the wage slips, which meant no goods could be delivered to me until I did and hence they couldn't make me pay for something I'd not received. So glad that it's a weight off my shoulders. Once again, many thanks0

Any other posters looking for a cheap bed should put £4 per week in a jar for three months and save up the £50, as the beds in Brighthouse come in at around £950 - £1500 once you've paid for them, which is hardly a bargain.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

until the item is delivered you have full right to cancel and receive a full refund for what you have already paid. If it has been delivered you can cancel the agreement if you have signed up for thiere optional service cover. This entitles you to terminate the grement by just giving the goods back.0
