I gave permission for my bf to purchase something using my halifax debit card on friday, wasnt keen at the time, but still let him go ahead. Now we have had a major fall out am i allowed to cancel it. It wasn't an actual purchase, more of a service if you know what i mean:(

No you couldnt, goods have been purchased and the goods have been taken and you authorised this. Can I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0 -

Was it bought online or over the phone? If it was, you may be able to cancel under the Distance Selling Regulations. See http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/buying_at_home/returning-cancelling/
Otherwise it depends on the T&C of whoever it was purchased from. Often you can cancel just because you've changed your mind, if the purchase or service or whatever it was hasn't yet been used.0 -
If the service is in your boyfriends name then he is the only one that can cancel it as the agreement will be in his name, not yours, especially if it's a continuous authority payment.0

I think it's only the payee who can cancel a continuous authority payment.

The company providing the "service" will usually only discuss the agreement with the person who has set it up originally, the payee can attempt to cancel but in my experience (disputes dept in a bank !) they will always request that the person whose name is on the agreement to contact them. Quite a few retailers will not even discuss this with the person who is paying ! I think the best thing for this OP to do is to contact the retailer and tell them his card details have been used fraudulently, as it was only on Friday they may cancel it for him on this occasion. If he's fallen out with his BF then he doesnt have anything to lose does he ?!0

You're suggesting the OP lie to their bank, and put in a fraudulent fraud claim?
That's not overly clever advice.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
