Seriously it would put me off. But what about the rest of your house? If there are other things which need replacing then I wouldn't bother with the bathroom suite, just price it accordingly and someone will snap it up for a refurb

Not unless you're going to put a nice suite in instead. Cheap and nasty is as bas as grey.

Can you change flooring shower curtain and towels to make it look smart?

A grey bathroom suite wouldn't put me off. I could smarten that up with flooring, curtain and accessories. When I saw a brand new kitchen, bathroom and cloakroom being ripped out of the house next door when it was sold it made me sceptical of all these makeovers. Why do buyers want a place with cheapo fittings just because they are white/neutral. Unless the suite is hideous/dirty/chipped/stained I would leave it as it is.
  • Depends upon the house to be honest. A cheap bathroom in an expensive house would make me think that everything has been done on the cheap and there may well be issues to discover down the line so to speak. A new bathroom in an otherwise unmodernised house would also have me asking questions. However, if the current bathroom is detracting from the overall appeal of the property then careful replacement could seal a deal. I expect much more from a house at £500k than one at £100k.

Depends how you are pricing it. If you are selling at a low price to reflect need for modernisation then don't bother. If you are hoping to get near market value then replace!

depends on what the rest of the house is like - who is likely to buy the house. If you expect people to be decorating then no dont change it. If the people buying the place are likely to want to move in and do nothing, then yes

It wouldn't put me off, I can easily save and do it up. Saying that my kitchen and bathroom could do with upgrading (the tiles from behind the toilet are not on) when I bought it 3 years ago, but instead I'm saving my money up for a 2 week holiday in Amercia to see LA and Vegas, I figure as long as I like it at the moment who cares.

Depends on the style of the grey suite. We had one and it was huge & ugly. Really bulky. If yours is in good nick etc and not taking up half the room then with some lovely big co-ordinating fluffy towels, some nice smellies dotted around .... maybe you could save yourself some money.

It wouldn't put me off as a buyer personally. My priorities are always ... position of house/garden for sun, privacy and adequate room for family.
