Cancelling Virgin Mobile contract 6 months in to a 24 month contract, help?
Hi guys, I know you savvy people can help me with this.
In late September/ early October I purchased a 24month contract with Virgin Mobile, now after 6 months I've lost it with them! (I was never pleased at the only option being a 24 month contract!)
I've had numerous examples of bad customer service with them (which I feel is the strong argument I have?), such as calling to change my package, being on the phone for over half an hour, and being called back etc, just to phone up again after the new package was supposed to be in place, to be told I'd never actually changed the package - thus having to wait another month.
This is just one of the few issues I've had with their useless customer service team.
Other than that I feel I'm paying a lot £15.__ a month for 500 texts, 100 minutes and unlimited internet. Granted it is a blackberry, but I'm right in thinking that GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile both offer better deals, even for Blackberrys?
So, do I have a case to cancel, basing it mainly on the customer service side? but are they likely/allowed to charge me if I do?
Also, the Blackberry was free with the contract, but as no upgrades etc are ever offered during this contract, am I right in thinking that this phone is now more 'mine' than it is theirs? e.g. I wouldn't have to return it if I did cancel my contract?
Hope that all makes sense! Thanks in advance.

You can't cancel because you think it's poor value. You were supposed to check that BEFORE signing up.
It's unlikely you'll be able to cancel because of poor customer service. If you use the complaint procedure you might get an apology and a credit to your bill (to cover the month when the changes weren't made).
Your first action should be to read your terms and conditions to find out how to make a formal complaint.0 -

A bit back maybe for poor customer service free month sort of thing .
End contract pay rest of contracted payments thats 18 x £15 .
Poor customer service or even good customer service is not part of your contract .
You are left with the phone and you can use any provider including GiffGaf .
But what i would do is write to them pointing out your complaints and asking how much do they want for you to get out of the contract .

I see 18 months and PAYG as well. I don't think that the picture was different 6 months ago.
GiffGaff don't sell phones, do they? And surely deals get better after 6 months because the phone price falls.
Ah, no, I meant, just better contract deals, like say more minutes/texts for that price, or cheaper for the amount that I'm getting.A bit back maybe for poor customer service free month sort of thing .

Sorry to hijack your thread but am in a similar situation as I would like to cancel/change my contract. Does anyone know if it's possible to change the mobile phone number on a mobile as I am going abroad to work and Virgin does not have reception in the Canaries (well not where I am) and I thought that I would let my sister have the remaining 6 months of contract and I will pay. They've already told me that I can't cancel.0

Just call your provider and ask them to change the mobile number, it's usually free0
