Grrrr rubbish day, need to vent

I've had so much go wrong today (well yesterday now, look at the time) I just need to vent.
1. OH promised me a much needed lie in. I've got a 4 month old and the builders have been in for weeks and I've not had anything even like a lie in since I was ill at Christmas and I'm so tired I;m on my knees. So after offering me a lie in he spends an hour bumbling in and out of the bedroom, noisily getting dressed and generally being annoying, I snap and shout at him and don't get a lie in. That is the highlight of my day, it's downhill from here!
2. Come downstairs to find that he's washed my favourite cushion as baby was sick on it. Fair enough you think, but he basically boiled it and it's properly ruined and will need to g in the bin. Now it's a cushion, I know this and it can be replaced BUT it was the cushion which came with me to all my antenatal yoga classes, came to hospital with me and was there for the two nights I was in labour without my husband as he'd been sent home. It was the cushion I propped my baby on when he came home from hospital and it's the cushon baby liked to stroke as it felt nice in his hands. Ruined. We had a big row over this one, tears on both sides and I still haven't really forgiven him.
3. The sun was shining so we went for a walk to the park, came back to find the (newish) car had been badly keyed (probably by the kids next door who hate us) so OH will need to report that to the police and claim on his insurance. Oh there's more!
4. Went to cook tea and got a pack of kale out of the fridge, but the kale was frozen in the fridge and ruined, it's only a pack of kale, well yes, but it also means the fridge is on it's last legs and we'll have to buy a new one soon.
5. OH and I were doing a marathon baking session for a family party and the oven died, completely dead, kaput. So no tasty treats for the party tomorrow and I'm £250 down as I've just ordered a new one.
How much bad luck can one person have? I'm really, really at the end of my tether. I've obviously upset the gods. Especially as this is the second time of typing this out as the first one just disappeared!
I'm off to my bed now, that's if its not on fire or similar. Hope tomorrow brings a better day. Harumph x

Hey look at it this way. Yes you had a crap day but look at what you do have. The things that need replacing are just that, they are things.
You have a lovely son and the time you spend with him will mean more than anything. I am sure there are many childless couples on these forums who would eagerly swap places with you.
Having said all that I hope today is better for you.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
You've got your health my friend, a beautiful baby son and an OH who loves you and tried to do his best as regards the cushion. Practice some Mindfulness techniques in the midst of all the chaos
http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/html/instant_mindfulness.htmlI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Your tired and emotional, things always seem worse when you are feeling this way. Last month I got the news I was being made redundant, all in one day I lost my job, my dog was ill, I lost a glove, and broke my favourite glass. I was so upset I burst into tears!! Hubby gave me a cuddle and told me that all these things can be replaced in time (except my dog, she is irreplaceble). He said I must think about my sister who is dying of breast cancer and is now bedridden. I realize just how lucky I really am........ OP, I hope today is better for you, try not to fret over things that really dont matter.......0

I understand you are frustrated but looking at your points:
1. Next time your OH offers you a lie-in, make sure he knows that you need peace and quiet to enjoy it, or sleep in the spare room.
2. Go shopping for a nice new cushion. You could find something your baby would enjoy even more! Teach your OH how to use the washing machine properly too!
3. I wouldn't bother getting the car fixed, the kids will do it again. It's only a car, with a battle scar now.
4. Your fridge. At least you have a warning. You can be prepared for when it packs up. You can start looking around for a good deal.
5. Tasty treats can be easily obtained from places like M&S or Sainsbury's etc.
Hope you feel better for venting and have a better day today!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

You sound seriously sleep-deprived. Everything looks bad and too much to handle when you're in this state. Can you have a couple of nights away at a relative's house when you can really catch up on your sleep?
Coping with builders in for weeks OR a young baby would be more than enough for most people - you've coped with both.
Taking away the rubbish part of the day you're left with with what looks like a lovely OH.starjumper wrote: »OH promised me a much needed lie in.

Concentrate on the good things and get yourself some really solid nights sleeps and you'll feel a different person!0 -
Oh bless you. Hope today is a better day for you. Put your baby in the pram and you and hubby go for a nice long walk. Then when baby is asleep, you get some sleep. Forget housework. Just sleep. both of you.
Sign up to freecycle for a fridge/freezer. One will come along. I'm just off to pick up a Daewoo Microwave off freecyle.
Print this and put it on your wall. I had this on my wall when my kids were little.
I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;

That little gem of a rhyme speaks volumes and is very, very true.
Thank you for sharing. x0 -
I had a bad day yesterday. OH returned home 3 hours into a shift as he had been suspended (for something sooooo ridiculous its crazy).
I just made light of it thinking there was no need for getting upset about it. Went into the fridge to get some meat out to put it in the slow cooker to find it not there. He had been in the kitchen and threw it in the bin because it was out of date. i had taken it out of the freezer the night before but he just thought it was fresh. I think i now know about "the red mist of rage"!!!!!:rotfl:
i kicked a bin lid from the kitchen right past the living room and into the bedroom! Then he thought i was some kind of maniac raging about a bit of lamb! it just takes one little thing to set you off sometimes!!!!!! :rotfl:
Although days like you have had are soooo rubbish, i kind of prefer a day full of disasters and the quiet life for the rest!!! :T0 -
It's quite simple.... don't sweat the small stuff!
you've got builders in, that is stressful!
Having a baby who throws up on a cushion is a part of daily life with a baby, at least your DH tried to wash it without coming in and asking you what you wanted done with it...
now the baby is 4 months old, can you ask someone to look after it for an afternoon to let you and DH have a spot of lunch, somewhere without builders and babies?:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Always makes me blub.
Hugs, OP, its sleep deprivation. Its not how life will always be. xxxPlease do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0
