Ring 150, tell them your getting harrassing calls, theyll change your number for free (with a crime reference number) or for a tenner if you dont want to report it. simple.

No i meant that harassing calls were made using my mobile phone- a family member was making calls to my tutor about 10 times. he thinks its me, and has reported it to the police, was just wondering what would happen because the phones obviously mine. :o

    Deleted already? Very intriguing...

If they Orange for some reason refuse to change the number, just get a free sim-card from another provider and port the number to Orange.

My other post is still there, not deleted :)

And the contract owner will be responsible if just say someone reported it to the police?.

I don't know, stuff like that would no doubt have been dealt with at a level far above myself I'm afraid.

Well, responsible not really. But if they get the details of the contract holder they will obviously contact you, they have no other details.

If they do just tell them who made the calls, I suppose you're "grassing up" a family member but, personally, if a family member had used services (landline/mobile/internet) to do something illegal, I wouldn't hesitate to throw them onto the chopping block rather than myself.

As far as changing your contract to delete call records, it won't work. They will keep them for at least 6 years, not only for law enforcement purposes but in case of billing disputes that may arise months or years after the fact.

some shops like carphone warehouse and phones4u will buy you out of your contract (cause they want you to take a new one out that day) but usually only in the last month or two - they wont do it any earlier cause it would cost them too much x

I considered this too. My friend told me that she was bought out of a contract with 18 months to go by phones4u. I'm not going to through cos I think I would end up with a dearer contract ifI did this.

  • Phones4u do a cashback deal on certain phones, as far as I am aware this is anywhere upto £300 - this can be used to pay off contract.

Why don't you just SIM-lock your phone to prevent any unauthorised people using it in future?

As I said - change or not, call records will be available at Orange for some time to come.

Found a large outstanding debt about 3 years old a customer had ignored when they called about their new account once.
