Aftermarket remote central locking (unpoverty my car thread #34534567)
Anyone got any experience with aftermarket central locking kits? They any good or something that should be avoided?
Are there insurance implications with such devices? (I assume they are less secure than OEM central locking in that the fob could be easier to clone)

i'd see an alarm installer as you can get a decent toad central locking alarm dealy fitted reasonably cheap plus it may give you some money off insurance
if you mean them god awful ebay jobbies then dont bother they are crap.Sealed pot challenger # 10

I assume having it professionally installed would mean Kia wouldn't/couldn't try to wriggle with warranty issues either then providing they weren't directly linked to the install? (it's a brand new car)0

have a word with kia and see what they say.. they may offer an alarm system with central locking.. I know our fiesta owners club prefered installer doesnt have any issues with warranty.. he has fitted many a alarm system to new fiesta's/focus's etc

Thanks, I'll have a word with my insurer too.
Do you know a ballpark figure for a decent install? Don't want to pay too much because the more I add on myself the closer I get to the next trim level which will make me feel stupid :rotfl:0 -
£200 ish is a round about price.. depends on whats already on your car tbh.. its worth every penny to the lads and lasses on UKFN tho.. they even have bumper loops installed so if the bumper is nicked (yeah its common as they have ST's and ZS's) the alarm goes off..Sealed pot challenger # 10

Nope. Wouldn't be thinking about it if I did - the remote part isn't really that big an issue to me.0

To get the central locking, best bet is find a pummelled one in a scrappy and "harvest" all the bits you need. Wiring is likely to already be in your car ready for the contollers and solenoids to pop in. (You may even find the door solenoids are already installed too).0

Hmmm..... I think all models with central locking have remote central locking though, so am I not going to have some kind of ECU headache if I go down that route?0
