There will be 2 adults and two teens..somwhere pretty and near to a beach and shops as it will be self catering. Thanks in advance. ( never been to Majorca before)

I went to Santa ponsa last sept.

Depending on how many stops on a shuttle bus it was around the hour mark did seem quicker on the way back so if you was getting a private taxi might be a lot less.

The resort is nice enough not massive a lot is on the main strip opposite the beach and most hotels are probably a couple of minutes walk from the beach which I thought was very nice. When we went it fell the same time as their festival so was really nice to see the street shows and all the markets along the beach edge.

It's not too far from the more lively areas either if you fancied venturing there but we didn't.

We went to Santa Ponsa a few years ago, really nice atmosphere, lots of Scots and Irish there, took a boat trip and tonnes of Germans got on at the next resort, it's one of those places that seems to attract people from certain areas....

so there were "British" and "Irish" style pubs, mostly around the square in Santa Ponsa where there would be entertainment on in summer season.

Nice beach, we stayed in the Punta Del Mar, nice food and great sunset views from the room we had.It was half board though, there was a little supermarket just down the road ( anywhere there are tourists there will be supermarkets - there's a market for the food;))

  • Palma Nova is the shorter transfer, Santa Ponsa is further up the motorway.

With teens I would honestly suggest Palma Nova. That is if you are happy with them going to Magaluf for the night life. If you stay at the Torrenova end of Palma Nova it is within easy walking distance.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Santa Ponsa is in a cove, so quite sheltered ( have a look on Google maps and compare the two)

Have you checked tripadvisor for the guides on each resort, and had a look at the possible hotels you'd be staying in at each resort?

An extra half hour transfer time really isn't much compared to being stuck in a terrible resort ( not saying PN is awful, haven't been there, though the shuttle bus stopped at some terrible 70s style hotels on the way back to the hotel)

Check out flight timetables too, if the airport runs flights late into the night/early hours, is the flight path anywhere near where you'd be staying?

I am looking Travel Republic as we speak..I have spotted The Verdemar Apartments Santa Ponsa which are right on the beach and so far the reviews are coming back as good, cleanliness is a must as I have a bit of a thing about it, I will check out the reviews on Trip Advisor to see what is said there !

The problem with Magaluf being so close the teens will want to go there.

Palma Nova is like everywhere else some parts are good some hotels and apartments are not. You need to check out anywhere you think of going to in Palma Nova isn't used by Club 18-30 type holidays or isn't very close to any hotel that is used by these types of holidays.

Have been to both resorts and in my considered opinion are both good, hard to choose but prefer Santa Ponsa out of the two.

If you are not bothered about exciting nightlife then look at Can Pastilla ,right at the end of the runway ,5 mins in a taxi
    Have a nice day :)
  • Which ever you chose I think you will be pleased.Been to both before and I would give Palma Nova the edge with the beach,Santa Ponsa has some parts that are quite hilly
