Edge Hill Accomodation

My Daughter is starting here in Sept. She will be looking for accomodation on campus. We understand that not all students will get an offer. We are about 40 miles away, so hoping if we apply the day they open we will get her a room. She doesnt have her own lap top so may go for the more expensive room that supplies a computer. Due to her working saturdays not been able to do a campus tour to look at any rooms. Does anyone know what the Founders or Graduates court rooms are like or the Forest court. she would ideally like her own bathoom. Thanks

I also cannot find the answer but I would assume General Studies doesn't count.0

Some places give priority to students from a distance rather than those living locally.
Mightn't it be cheaper for her to buy a cheap laptop (second hand?) rather than to pay for the most expensive accommodation for a year or more?0 -
I am sorry. I am still slightly drunk and think I have replied to the wrong Edge Hill question.
I'll get back to you when I am sober (and I'll read ONWs post as well, which I am sure is amazing)0 -

That does not strike me as wise.
Why pay more now so she has the use of a computer for a year only for her not to have that computer in later years of study - after the first year she will need a computer *anyway*, so you might as well not pay the extra for the room and see if you can get a cheap laptop now.
A basic laptop that allows email, wifi and word processing is all a student really needs.0 -

Tell her to go for Forest Court-Rowan I studied at Edge Hill and these halls were brilliant-en suite, self catering shared kitchen between 6 rooms the others were awful and more expensive especially the ones what you have to pay food (beware restricted times on meals). I could eat when I want, was cheaper and had my own bathroom! 2nd and 3rd year lived on Wigan Road again shared house and cheap and cheerful. Hope this helps!0

It would be better for her to get her own laptop than to rent a room with a computer supplied.0

Thanks for that. As soon as accomodation goes on line we will apply. Using the distance calculator they use we are 39.6 miles away so hoping we will be lucky enough to get somethin0

Anyone else stayed at Forest Court?0

Honestly - if you're only 40 miles away it might be worth going on an open day if there are any anytime soon?
Or email the accomodation office and ask if you could visit?
And its worth pointing out, shes only there for 1 year and then move out into a house. Some people do find it too difficult with crappy housemates and such, but this is a rarity.0
