Please can any one help me.
I currently have a Sony Ericsson Satia with symbian operating system. A app I need to use will not work on it. I need to buy a phone with a android operating system on it. App may not be brought out on Symbian.
If I was to take the sim card out of the Satia and put it in a new android phone would the app work or does the phone number tell the download it is not a android operating system.
I still have 18th month to go on the contract so do not want to take out another contract on top of the one I have already if I can help it.

Yes.
Put the SIM in and android phone and as long as it meets the requirements for the app the app will work.
By meeting the requirements I mean if the app needs version 2 of Android then the phone has to be version 2 not an older one running version 1.x If it needs GPS you need to buy a phone with GPS and so on.0 -
Good luck finding an Android phone without GPS though
