Help I need a new recorder

Hi to everyone from a newby.
Our old HDR has finally ceased to function. I started looking at Panasonic units as we have a TX-P42S20BA tv and thought the link function might be useful but nearly fell off my seat when I saw the prices (I am a poor farmer after all). So here is my wish list terrestrial, twin tuner, hd, 500 gb+ and possibly dvd as that would lessen the spaghetti behind the tv.
Is it worth paying for a Panasonic or am I better going for something else?
