    So what am I then if I've got no card debt and have to rent because I can't afford a house due to the high cost of buying?

    I await some insults (joking Galstonian  ;D)

    Some suggestions might be to wait until the housing market corrects itself, buy something less than you ultimately want, look at partial ownership but most importantly, don't spend money now which you want to use to buy a house now or in the future. Having cash in hand can speak volumes and means that any move into the housing market can be achieved much more quickly. If you have learned from your lesson that is great but you can't extrapolate from that and assume that "one size fits all".


    I still have some insults if you want them... ;)
