Email problems Web Mania

• I have been using web mania since October 2009, it changed to Yorhost without me really noticing as this was inbetween renewal update. Only now, when I came to update the services for another year, which I paid on 19 Oct of this year that the services have now stopped. I am currently contacting OnlineNIC to get the domain to point to a different server but this is proving to be a bit of a pain. Surely, if these problems have been going on for some time then they should never have taken my money. No doubt I will have to contact Trading Standards and the like.
• Well, actually, it's not all bad news. Through complete laziness I didn't bother to move two of my accounts away from WebMania / YorHost, and the service provided was acceptable for the past 6 months. This last weekend, however there were some IP address changes which took longer to achieve than planned, so there was an interruption for a couple of days. They also replace the hardware on one of the servers. But as far as I'm concerned, it's all running fine again. By emailing support@yorhost.net you do get through to the owner, Nathan Barnes, and although he may not respond immediately, he does seem to read and act on emails.
It's still very cheap hosting, for the space and features you get, and most of the time it works OK.

• Hello there, tis my first post here :)

I was completely unaware of any of the issues highlighted in this thread. I have only searched due to the fact that last week (approx 8th/9th December) my emails suddenly stopped. I have emailed and tried the "live" help (which as mentioned is always offline) and when I email myself from another account i get

"A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

xxxxx@xxxxx.xx.xx
mailbox is full: retry timeout exceeded"

I renewed my hosting in November 2011 and now have the funny feeling that I have been duped. Anyone else now having the same issues, would be handy to know.

Thanks in advance

Steve
• The only address that is monitored these days seems to be support@yorhost.net
If you're lucky you may get a reply from Nathan Barnes on service@yorhost.net but he always says not to reply to that address, use support@yorhost.net instead.

My server (server2) is refusing FTP connection at present, along with other issues, so I've recently tried an email to see if anything happens.
Good luck!

• Thank you for your response :) Seems they are doing the same as Webmania - no answer from emails or phone etc. Just trying to recover my email details and take my email POP details back to UK2.net whom I registered it with originally many moons ago, so hopefully all is not lost (apart from my recent upgrade fee :( ah well!)
• I think it is time to sort out this guy. This guy could have done a lot more to help the people he has inconvenienced, however what he is doing with YorHost is beyond the pale.

Many of us have lost money and been given an immense amount of trouble by the collapse of Web Mania Ltd. Some of us still have issues to sort out.

I am receiving invoices off his new company YorHost for domains that are no longer registered with Web Mania Ltd and I have never been a customer of YorHost nor have I had any domains registered with him. This is therefore fraud and it is a criminal offence. I know at least two other people this is happening to.

At £10-£45 a time this is not a lot of money, however if he is sending out 100s or 1000s of false invoices and some people are paying them then this amounts to a lot of money.

I am willing to collate the information and report the matter to North Yorkshire Police for criminal investigation.

Please send the following you have received from YorHost

- email “Account Renewal Reminder”
- copy of invoice form your Web Mania account.

as a zipped file to:

sortthisoutnow@gmail.com

Please note: Your invoice must be for a service that is not registered with YorHost
