Yeah excess is the same but if you were to pay for a new replacement ie not from a scrappy then it'd be more for a side window usually.

Good call on a side window from a scrappy though, there will be a few Escorts about :T

oh yeah i see where your coming from Kilty.. Op if your anywhere near me i can refit the replacement window for a brew and a biccy

could also get an ECU with lockset and keys cheap too.. easy enough to change once the window is done in :D

  • for a 98 escort you should be able to get a lockset, keys, immobiliser ecu and a side window from the scrappy for in the region of £100, and a haynes manual off ebay for a fiver. because your changing the locks you can afford to destroy the old ones in the process so you could even get away without changing the window if you get it right. old ford locks couldn't be less secure if they were made of chocolate you could probably get in by shoving a carrot in the keyhole and turning it.

I had one when working for the AA a few years back
That's a thought, if OP has breakdown cover, could give them a call and say you think the keys are locked in the car (fallen down the side of the seat?) and they may be able to get you in without any windows being smashed or other damage. Then you can search the car, maybe he locked it from the inside and closed the door with the keys still in there somewhere, it wouldn't be the first time its happened.
  • Mcjordi - thanks for your offer of help only problem is I live in Devon!
We did have extra keys but my eldest son was going through a stage of burieing (sp) his toys in the garden - and the two spare keys went the same way
So today we had an auto locksmith who charged £210.00 to get it sorted and for 2 keys - now to keep them away from DH!
Thanks to everyone for their replies.
