Hi everyone,
I am going to St Lucia for my Honeymoon in July for a couple of weeks.
Could anyone point me in the right direction for the best value car hire for 5 or so days.
I would like us to hire a car as I understand the Island has a lot to offer.
Thank you,
Simon

Hi Simon
Who have you booked your holiday with Virgin do car hire packages on St Lucia if you have booked with them?
Thanks

We have booked through British Airways as believe it or not they work out the cheapest airline or travel agent to go with (helps having a contact there too!).
So we are looking at somewhere like Avis, Dollar etc etc0 -
Hi, I live in St Lucia and there are many many car hire companies. I would advise a 4x4.
You can either arrange one through your hotel or hire one yourselves.
Here are a few local companies: Drive-A-Matic www.drivestlucia.com

Thats fantastic, thank you very much.
We are booked to stay at Smugglers Cove and are really looking forward to coming over.
Are there any 'must see' things to see and do while we are there that you recommend? We will be there for 2 weeks so have lots of time to see the island.
I have hard mixed reviews that all the beaches are rockey and not sandy, is this correct?

Smugglers Cove is nice - its in the north of the island so you are in the area of restaurants, bars, nightlife.
The beaches are some of the best in the world. It is definately not true that they are all rocky, they have wonderful golden sand and the water is so clear, it is a true paradise. There are many many different beaches, some next to hotels and some hidden away that can only be reached by 4x4 and boat tours. You must visit Reduit beach but be aware of beach sellers, they will approach you to purchase necklaces, drinks etc but a pleasant no and they will be on their way.
I would suggest snorkelling as there are some fantastic coral and fish to see, taking a walk in the rainforest, seeing the Pitons in Soufriere, going to the jump up in Rodney Bay on a Friday night, going to Ayse La Raye for Friday Fish night, taking a boat tour if you can, hiring a scooter and seeing the sights for yourself, riding a zipline through the rainforest.
As you are coming in July it is the month of carnival. People wear costumes and dance in the street it really is a sight to see.

See, beaches are wonderful. You should spend a day in Pidgeon Island, it is a national park so you will have to pay a small charge to go in, you can read about it here http://www.slunatrust.org/pigeon_island.phpLove a charity shop bargain0
