JQ. If I paid Natwest £ 30 to make an electronic payment of 10,000 to my mother and a week later there was no trace of the 10,000, would I expect Natwest to deal with the complaint or the 3rd party who carried out the transfer for them ?0

JQ by the way, Natwest arranged for L&G to provide the report. L&G instructed Metropolis0

Nat West are a Bank, I would expect them to be able to carry out banking services and be resposible for the outcome. They are not a firm of Chartered Surveyors and they did not survey your property. They arranged for someone else to survey your property, somebody with a complaints procedure, Professional Indemnity Insurance and a direct relationship with you and that's who you need to complain to.
I'll say again, there are Terms and Conditions stated in the report. They are T&C's of the relationship between you and Metropolis. If there are no T&C's in the report then that is further grounds for complaint.
What exactly have Metropolis said?0 -
who exactly did you pay toThe word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
Metropolis have acknowledged that their Ts and Cs include a clause saying that I would have to pay them for the survey, which I haven't. So from my perspective I don't have a contract with them.
My example of the payment is a true one. I sent a sum of money to someone, and to this day Natwest nor the Ombudsman are able to explain where the money went. But apparently that doesn't mean that they owe me the mney, despite the fact that I handed it to them but the party I sent it to never received it.
I'm afraid that your view of what banks do and don't do is at odds with what they try to do. I go to a petrol station and buy flowers. I complain to the petrol station if they die the next day, not the grower. Like petrol stations banks have chosen to diversify and try to make margin on 1000 other products, so why should they be absolved of responsibility ?
Honestly, have you checked the Ts and Cs of your bank account to the extent that you know what recourse you have should you pay money into your account over the counter and they lose it ? I'm pretty sure you haven't. If there were Ts and Cs for the survey, I think it's the bank's duty to show me before I commit my money to it.0 -
Justme, I paid the money to Natwest. It's listed in my mortgage application after the arrangement fee.0

What has your private banking manager got to say about this? They are usually pretty helpful in sorting out problems, in my experience.0

He's just moved on to his next role. I've contacted the general private banking department and suggested to them that they need to fix this.0

Sorry, I don't understand have you actually made a complaint to Metropolis?0

your contract is with Nat West ... so that is who i would complain to ...
